Community Size and Membership: Our community is unique because we have 342 residential lots on Stone Island, yet only 225 of these lots are members of the Association. Lots that were established before the Homeowners Association was formed are not required to contribute financially and can choose to join voluntarily if they wish. Membership not only supports community initiatives but also gives residents a voice in important decisions that affect their living environment.
Lot Development Breakdown: Among the 225 lots that are members of the Association, approximately 131 lots are developed or improved, 89 lots are undeveloped or vacant, and 5 are half lots that are also vacant.
Incorporation and Governance: The Stone Island Homeowners Association was founded and incorporated on April 9th, 1981. The Association establishes and enforces guidelines and regulations to maintain property values, protect and preserve the natural beauty and wildlife of the island, and promote a harmonious living atmosphere. A complete and organized set of Association governing documents can be found on this website in the Downloadable Documents section.
Board of Directors: Stone Island is managed by the Stone Island Homeowners Association Board of Directors, which consists solely of volunteer residents elected by the community. They are responsible for overseeing the daily operations and financial responsibilities of the Association. These dedicated individuals work diligently to ensure that the community's needs are met and that residents have a platform to express their concerns and suggestions.
Financial Responsibilities: The HOA collects dues from members to cover maintenance, community events, and improvements. These funds are essential for maintaining common areas, organizing community activities, and ensuring that our neighborhood remains a desirable place to live.
Amenities: Residents enjoy access to shared amenities such as a private boat ramp, tennis courts, horse stables and pastures, walking trails, and a playground and central pavilion area. These amenities not only enhance the quality of life but also provide opportunities for residents to connect and engage in outdoor activities together.
Roadways: All roads in the community are private roads maintained by the Association, except for Stone Island Road. Additionally, Stone Island is a golf cart community, allowing residents to easily navigate their neighborhood in a fun and laid-back manner, enhancing the overall quality of life and fostering a sense of camaraderie among neighbors.
Engagement Opportunities: The HOA encourages resident participation through community events and meetings. These gatherings not only provide valuable information but also create a sense of belonging, allowing neighbors to build relationships and work together for the betterment of the community.
Communication Channels: The HOA maintains open lines of communication with residents through various platforms, including email chains, a community website, and social media. These channels ensure that residents are kept up to date with important announcements and community events, fostering an informed and engaged community.
Community Events: Throughout the year, the Hospitality Committee hosts a variety of community events, such as holiday celebrations, hayrides, barbeques, and golf cart races. These events strengthen community bonds and provide residents with opportunities to socialize and make lasting memories.
Volunteer Opportunities: Residents are encouraged to get involved in the community by volunteering for various committees and projects. Whether it's helping with landscaping, organizing events, or serving on the Board, there are numerous ways for residents to contribute and make a positive impact.
